GLO THEBEATZ

Biography

Glody Kasongo better known by his producer name Glo TheBeatz is a multi-platinum selling executive music producer, recording and mixing engineer, Dolby Atmos mixing engineer, one half of the artist-producer duo PLXYGRND, co-founder and co-owner of the production house and independent label Playground Productions.

Glo TheBeatz's musical genesis began when he was just 14 years old. He cites Kanye (Ye) West's 'Graduation' album as a significant influence, specifically highlighting the track 'Can't Tell Me Nothing.' Intrigued by the process of creating such beats, Glo TheBeatz started experimenting with FL Studio alongside a friend of his brother, primarily during school breaks. He continued practicing until he sold two beats to an artist who also happened to know Kyle Brown aka Kyle Keyz. This connection led to Glo meeting Kyle and in 2014 they established their indie label Playground Productions.

Glo's signature sound combines urban flavors with a futuristic twist.

Over the course of his career Glo has mixed and mastered well over 200+ songs and has  been instrumental in creating numerous chart-topping, platinum, and gold-certified songs both locally and internationally. His production and engineering credits feature tracks such as K.O, Young Stunna & Blxckie - Sete, DJ Zan-D & Reason - Rigorous, Sliqe & Blxckie - Intentions, Ricky Tyler's Thirty K's, DJ Speedsta - Mayo, DJ Speedsta - Naughty, Nadia Nakai - Money Back, and Money Badoo's 47K$, Davido - Timeless among others.

In early 2020, Glo got his first Netflix placement with Nadia Nakai's Big Pun on the popular show Queen Sono. He then garnered another international placement on the African-inspired soundtrack for Eddie Murphy's Coming 2 America, "Rhythms of Zamunda," with the song they produced for Ricky Tyler, titled 'Everything.'

In late 2021, Glo and his partner Kyle Keyz decided to begin releasing their own music as artists under the group name PLXYGRND. Glo has has earned over 7 SAMA (South African Music Award) nominations and one SAMA win for Best Collaboration for co-production on K.O & Nandi Madida's hit single 'Say U Will.'
