Who Are We

Biography

Vuyina is a  soulful singer, songwriter born and bred in the East Rand, Johannesburg. Growing up she was raised in a musical household and her love of music stemmed from listening to the likes of Brandy, Tamia, Lighthouse Family & Dolly Parton.

The powerhouse took a liking to the art of music at an extremely early age and began writing song lyrics at the tender age of 13.

While still in high school, Vuyina began her musical path with the release of her 1st EP titled Journey at the early age of 17.

Catchy, carefree and magical to the core, Vuyina’s debut EP Journey was a solid reminder to her listeners that they’re not alone. Tackling real-life issues like the pressures of living up to society’s ideals, self-doubt, friendship and identity.

Journey garnered over half a million streams across all platforms & was shazamed over a 10,000 times.

Vuyina took a slight hiatus from music to focus on school. A diploma in Public Relations & Events Management & several life events later Vuyina has grown tremendously as an artist, her sound and the subject matter in her music absolutely reflect this growth.

In early 2021 Vuyina signed to PlayGround Productions, home of Def Jam signee Ricky Tyler

On the 9th of December 2021, Vuyina released the 1st single of her comeback EP titled 'The Break Between' titled Leavin' U which featured label mate Ricky Tyler. Leavin' U  is a sultry R&B ballad about leaving a toxic relationship that no longer serves you.

The Break Bewteen was officially released on the 17th of December 2021 with the lead single “Andisoze” which was Vuyina’s first song in which she sang in her native tongue of Xhosa. Andisoze garnered over 150,000 plays on streaming platforms and over 15 000 views on the music video which was released on the 24th of March 2022.

In the same month, Vuyina released Uthando which features Loki from Skhanda World. Uthando served as the 1st single of her debut album and was greatly received. Vuyina’s steady growth then caught the attention of South African legend K.O, who then featured her on his album SR3 on the track Hate Luv and she also has two additional writing credits on the project.

Vuyina started 2023 with a bang, on the 10th of February she dropped the 2nd single of her highly anticipated album titled Sabela.

Sabela is a spiritual anthem about relying on and asking a higher power for guidance. It’s about the hardships of life getting to a person but in result they turn to someone else for help. Sabela is a reminder that although life is tough and there are downs, there is always a high that will make you forget about ever being at a low point. Our hearts greatest desires are always heard and will always come to fruition at some point in our individual journeys.

Sabela is the 2nd single of Vuyina’s debut album set to be released early this year and was produced by PLXYGRND & Murphy Cubic.
